Step 1.
Create a wallet
Intro
What is a wallet?
A wallet is software that holds private keys and is used to access and control blockchain accounts.
In Ethereum an account is an entity that can send a transaction and has a balance, it has an address that identifies it, something like 0x7ef7a606c587a8a257fcfbf19565c7ee705a2e59. It is also used to interact with smart contracts through a transaction, like minting an NFT. A good analogy for it is if your identity card also had a banking account, meaning you could pay your restaurant bill and sign PDFs documents with it.
Wallets never store the actual coins or tokens, they are just tools for managing what's yours. The actual balance is done on the distributed ledger that is the blockchain. This means that you can change wallet software at any time by simply importing your account's private keys.

You can create a MetaMask account if you don't have one yet, or add a new account to your wallet. You will be given a unique public address.
Once you create your wallet, connect to it using the metamask extension you downloaded.
